Adding drop lines and high-low lines to charts in Excel 2011 for Mac. On the Ribbon’s Chart Layout tab, go to the Analysis group and choose Lines→Drop Lines to add lines from your data points to the X-axis. Hi-low lines connect the highest value and lowest value of each data point with a line. In the Chart Layout tab’s Analysis group, choose Lines→High-Low Lines to add these.
Excel for Mac 16.13.1 (180523), Office 365 macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Hello, I have simple spreadsheets, with no formulas or anything. Everything was copied and pasted as values from another spreadsheet.
I am unable to plot large datasets on a chart (which is all I use). It crashes when I try to plot one series, which consists of about 60,000 rows of data.
It is not a plist issue, I have tried that. I have tried booting in safe mode. All of it must go on one chart. I have no problems with datasets of the same size on Windows. Sometimes it hangs up, but doesn't crash. The Windows version of Excel is 32 bit, so I would think it would perform better on mac. I do calculations and format the number types on another spreadsheet.
Copy data from original spreadsheet and paste 'as values' on a new blank workbook. Save new workbook as.xlsx file to desktop on mac, to avoid any possible autosave issues with OneDrive.
I then select a small abount of data (like 4 rows) and insert a smooth line scatter plot, which works. I then right click on the chart, and go to 'select data.'
I then try to change the range on the first series: I give the series a title. Then, I select the full x-axis range of the first series (about 60,000 rows). I then select the same range for the y-axis (one column over). Click ok, and exit the 'select data' dialogue. Excel then hangs, freezes, and becomes nonresponsive when I try to scroll or click in a cell. I was told in a support session that it was an issue with my machine's RAM. This makes absolutely no sense, as the MAC has 16 GB of RAM, and the same spreasheet can create plots on a Windows machine running 32 bit excel with 8 GB of RAM.
It is either a Excel for Mac issue or a 64 bit Excel issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office for Mac yesterday, with no performance improvement. Word documents of a much larger file size work just fine on my Mac.
Hi Sam, Thanks for your updates. Please try the following and then do a test to see and let us know the result.

Enter Keychain Access. In the search field, enter adal. Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice152Data:ADAL:, and then press Delete. In the search field, enter office.
Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete. Quit Keychain Access. Restart the Mac and then re-sign into the Excel 2016 for Mac application. Thanks, Cliff.

Hi Is this a new problem with build 16.13.1 or has it been going on all along? I use charts with some very large data tables and they are working just fine, but I use the Insider Fast builds. There is a 16.14 general release build coming. You can get it now by joining Insider Fast.
If you install 16.14 and the problem goes away, then we know there was something screwy in 16.13.1 and then you're good to go. If the problem persists, the problem is less likely to be with Excel and is probably something else, such as a bad font or a problem with your Mac OS user profile, or maybe even Mac OS itself.
